Gorgeous Carat spans four regular manga volumes and a sequel volume entitled Gorgeous Carat: Galaxy. All five volumes center on the adventures of the gentleman thief Noir and his companion and love interest, Florian de Rochefort, in navigating the travails of noble French society, avoiding the pitfalls of both Noir's and Florian's murky pasts and learning to deal with one another beyond their initial bickering.
I could go on for hours about the twists in Gorgeous Carat's plotline, but then I'd give everything away. ^.~

I'm only going to list the main characters who appear throughout the entire manga, because to do otherwise would pretty much take me a week and a half. Gorgeous Carat has a lot of bit parts that are prominent for a story arc or three and then disappear entirely, so this is not the entire cast, just the permanent members. For more information on the other characters, click here (offsite link).
Noir;
The young aristocrat Rei Balzac Courtland is the main protagonist of Gorgeous Carat, a distant relative to the noble de Rochefort family moonlighting as a corrupt loan shark by day and the mysterious master thief Noir by night. Abrasive and glib to most, Noir has nevertheless collected a troupe of loyal followers who would do anything to help him out. To his enemies he's a determined and ruthless pursuer, but he has a softer side that hints at hidden vulnerability and a kinder heart beneath.
Florian;
Florian de Rochefort is a down on his luck aristocrat who was sold by his family to pay off their debt to Noir after the thief expressed interest in the "sparkling amethysts" of Florian's violet eyes. Blue blooded and upright, Florian is horrified by the betrayal and disillusioned by Noir's attitude towards the people around him. Nevertheless, he can't help but wonder what drives his mysterious benefactor, why Noir's followers are so devoted to a seeming fiend and why Noir is so willing to throw himself into danger to protect him.
Laila;
Laila is often described as Noir's "right hand man", despite the fact that she's... well, a she. Plucky and determined, she is loyal to a fault and hopelessly in love with Noir, despite the fact that her master has developed a fascination with Florian. She seems torn where Florian is concerned, sorry for the young noble's situation and hurt by Noir's affections towards him.

Listed below are places where you can find scanlations, text translations and the actual manga themselves. This is by no means a comprehensive list, it's just where I got my copies if you're looking for a place to start.
:|:Mangagedon:|:
The site scanlating the original manga. They've got most of volume one done now, which is at least a taste of the storyline.
:|:Zubyzu:|:
I stumbled onto this site entirely by accident, but I'm extremely glad I did. This is a fansite dedicated specifically to CG: Galaxy which is scanlating the new volume. They're about 2/3 done already.
:|:Kinokuniya:|:
Kinokuniya is a Japanese language bookstore that exists in several countries. I bought my copies of Gorgeous Carat (all five volumes) in one in California.
:|:A You Higuri Collection:|:
The most comprehensive shrine to You Higuri's works on the net. They offer some translations of the GC manga, but they're only got the first chapter of the first volume up right now.
:|:Manga Translations@senshigakuen.com:|:
A more complete set of GC text translations. Most of the first three volumes can be found here.
