Welcome to R E A C H F O R ME, the TAFL.org-approved fanlisting for the relationship between Heero Yuy and Duo Maxwell of the now legendary anime, Shin Kidou Senki Gundam W (Gundam Wing). Getting this fanlisting was something of a coup for Amet and I as Gundam Wing fandom (and particularly 1x2/2x1) was instrumental in us meeting and eventually finding our way to each other. For that reason (and not just because the fandom itself is so awesome), this pair holds a special place in our hearts and we're proud to give this fanlisting a more permanent home. We hope you'll join us in promoting the Heero/Duo love around the net.
What is a fanlisting? Essentially nothing more than an online listing of fans for a particular subject, open to aficionados around the world to join. It's an opportunity to show support for something you love and to share a link with a wider fan community. In this case, this fanlisting is devoted to Heero Yuy and Duo Maxwell in the capacity of teammates, partners, and perhaps something more.
information
Shin Kidou Senki Gundam W (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing) is a 49 episode anime and 2 episode OAV that ran from October 1995 to May 1996. An alternate universe to the original Gundam franchise, the show was an immediate hit with its mix of action, mecha, and bishonen. It also has the distinction of being the first of the Gundam franchise to be dubbed in English and shown on Cartoon Network in 2000. Set in AC (After Colony) 195, the show centers around five young men who have been trained by five different scientists and given control of mobile suits known as Gundams. Their mission? To destroy OZ, the military organization within the Alliance which is ruling the colonies and in some cases, terrorizing them, with an iron fist. Initially having no knowledge of each other, the pilots meet and ultimately team up to bring down OZ.
The pilots from Colony L1 and L2 are respectively Heero Yuy and Duo Maxwell who meet under the dubious circumstances of Heero trying to shoot pacifist Relena Darlian Peacecraft while trying to destroy Wing Gundam and kill himself. The pilot of the Gundam Deathscythe, Duo arrives intent on salvaging Wing for spare parts and attempts to rescue Relena by shooting Heero (and receiving very little thanks for that!). Duo figures out in very short order that Heero is like himself, another Gundam pilot sent to fight OZ and decides to satisfy his own curiosity by breaking him out of an Alliance hospital.
Their rather unlikely friendship begins from there with Duo wondering exactly what he's gotten himself into with Heero when the other boy goes so far as to reset his own broken leg. Through the series we are treated to their growing bond as they meet again and again, Heero going so far as to use Duo's name as an undercover alias and later breaking Duo out of an OZ base. Again and again in the Gundam source material, we find Heero and Duo gravitating towards each other, acting as each other's partner and ballast, enlisting each other's aid before going to anyone else.
The chemistry between Heero and Duo is what makes this pairing so interesting, a combustible mix that provides an interesting combination of opposites. Although they seem outwardly very different, their differences only seem to pull these two together rather than polarizing them, each providing an balance for the other. Duo frequently expresses concern and curiosity over Heero, wondering where he is and what he's doing, often offering advice and support when Heero might not want it and always watching his back. Duo is also one of the few people Heero will actually stop and listen to, even if he doesn't always understand what it is Duo is trying to tell him or doesn't have the patience for it. He seems to be drawn to Duo's outward vivacity while sense there's something darker underneath it all.
rules
1. Have some love for Heero and Duo (if not, why are you here?). Though your website if you have one doesn't need to reflect this to be listed.
2. Please fill out the join form entirely. We ask these questions for a reason, and we're not about to do anything strange with your email beyond informing you that you've been added to the members list. If you don't have a web site, just put 'none' or 'na' in the box.
3. If you do list a web site, please take one of the codes below and link back to this fanlisting somewhere on your page. We will be checking on this, as we're required to.

We're having some trouble with the site that hosts our form processing code, so I've had to consolidate forms. Please do not delete the text in the notes form, or we will not know which fanlisting you are applying to when we get your information. Thank you.
