Sena is one of the protagonists of Weiss Kreuz Gluhen and in many ways, his story and his search for the answers to his past is one of the main plot points that propels the series. He is brash, impatient, and very kind-hearted (all of which translates into his amazing ability to land in all sorts of trouble). He also has a very strong idea of what's right and wrong, passionately committed to seeking justice for himself and others. Sena joined Weiss after witnessing the death of his father and sister at his mother's hands (and nearly being one of her victims), hoping to both give his life purpose and find out what happened to make his mother commit such an act. He and Aya are working in tandem throughout most of the series with Sena masquerading as a student and Aya as his history teacher at Koua Gakuen and it is with Aya he seems to feel the most admiration and kinship.

Weiss Kreuz Gluhen is the animated sequel to the original Kapital series (following a slew of drama CDs detailing the further adventures of the Weiss boys). It begins several years after events in the original series with Aya and the newest Weiss team being sent to infiltrate Koua Gakuen (or roughly translated, Koua Academy) to investigate the rising suicide rates at one of the most promising (and now tightly secreted) schools in Japan.

Weiss Kreuz Gluhen seems to be the bastard step-child of the Weiss juggernaut. Fans either love or hate it and when it first came out, it polarized and sparked furious debate (particularly over the new character designs). For whatever reason, it seems to be less popular or at least less well-known and loved than the original Kapital series perhaps because the franchise took a decidedly darker turn. The new characters in Gluhen, Sena and Kyou, seem doomed to obscurity given all of the above, most people consigning Sena to the role of pseudo-Omi knockoff (because he looks SO like Omi) and Kyou is all but forgotten which seems odd given the rather memorable way he exits the series. In fact, neither of the two are ever really mentioned beyond throwing out their stats on Gluhen information sites. Most fan fiction out there is devoted to the original Weiss team or ignores Gluhen entirely. To be honest, I found this horribly grating especially where Sena was concerned. The boy was in all of Gluhen, was Aya's touchstone, and only facilitated most of the plot of the story. All that and he managed to be endearing and the cause of the infamous yank-your-heart-out-and-stomp-it-on-the-floor scene of DOOM both. If that isn't reason enough then I don't know what is. |

That particular phrase is from the song 'Dead Boy's Poem' by Nightwish, which seemed particularly apt where Sena was concerned... you all know why. ^_~ |
