Who are the people in Suoh's life? Here's a breakdown of friends, family, and miscellaneous acquaintances.

      ¤ Friends ¤

Nokoru
Imonoyama Nokoru is arguably the most important person in Suoh's life. The youngest scion of the great Imonoyama zaibatsu (whose net worth is calculated to be more than the GNP of Japan) and chairman of the Elementary Division Student Council, Nokoru is a brilliant student and a charming socialite (though he swears he can't choose between the women he inevitably nets, making us all wonder if he isn't just gayer than a tree full of parakeets). As gifted as Nokoru is, the constant threat of kidnapping hanging over the young heir's head makes him something of a polite loner until he meets Suoh and unwittingly convinces the Takamura that he is worthy of being his "one".

Akira
Ijyuin Akira is the treasurer of the Student Council and third in Suoh's little cadre of friends. A friendly, bubble-headed fourth grader, Akira spends more time cooking and encouraging Nokoru's stunts than he seems to on his actual work despite the fact that he always has it finished in time for Suoh to point to him as an example. Behind his cheerful exterior lies the calculating mind of 20 Mensou (translated literally as '20 Masks' or more subjectively as 'The Man With Many Faces' by Tokyopop), a gentleman thief and master at McGyvering his way out of tight spots. Now if he can just keep his friends from finding out his secret...

Nagisa
Azuya Nagisa is the requisite damsel in distress to Suoh's dashing hero. She is a kindergartener at CLAMP School in the same class as Utako-jo (see below), and an accomplished protégé of the Japanese flute. She doesn't seem to do much more in the manga than find herself in dangerous positions to be saved from and give Nokoru fodder to tease Suoh into the stratosphere.

Utako
Ohkawa Utako is the chairwoman of the Kindergarten Division Student Council, who often works in tandem with the members of the Elementary Division. She is a highly intelligent, sometimes pushy girl who likes to insist rather loudly that she is the betrothed of 20 Mensou (usually just close enough to Akira to set off a good spit take when he thinks his secret's out). Little do the rest of her friends realize she's not kidding.

      ¤ Family ¤

Koji
Takamura Koji appears in the CLAMP inspired novels CLAMP Paranormal Investigators, a series that is based at CLAMP Campus and uses much of the mythos set forth in the original Gakuen manga. Unlike Suoh, Koji is still learning the family craft, honing his skills while helping an association of students working to investigate paranormal phenomena on campus in an effort to become a sanctioned club.

  • Suoh's Mother is a minor part in the manga, but I feel the need to note her here because she illustrates very well during the flashback from "three years ago" that Suoh's training is very thorough. She seems to be the one who actually oversees most of his education in the family arts, tossing sharp objects at him in the middle of a tea ceremony and setting off a round of complaints from Suoh about her timing. She is also there to advise him about his "interest" in Nokoru and what it means to take a chosen.

  •       ¤ Acquaintances ¤

    Kenpi
Higashikunimaru Kentarou is the spastic half of the crime fighting duo in CLAMP Campus Defenders Duklyon. He is heir to the Higashikunimaru fortune (it's hinted that they are a zaibatsu almost as large as the Imonoyama) and if not the most brilliant student on campus, certainly the fastest sprinter, which is how he was recruited by Nokoru (simply called "the General" here) for the team. His goal in life is to be a bride, namely to his partner Takeshi, and he spends most of his time embarrassing his friend alternately shouting cute nicknames and pick up lines out the window of his limo on the way to school, and plying him with what Nokoru refers to as his "bento of devotion".

    Takepon
Shuukaidou Takeshi (or Takepon, as he's more commonly called) is Kentarou's long suffering partner, the other half of the Campus Defenders Duklyon. Takeshi is not nearly as well off as his friend, at CLAMP campus on scholarship (likely for his martial arts ability) and running a part time job as a newspaper delivery boy. He has problems dealing with those he sees as rich and spoiled (read: Kentarou and Nokoru), and generally does things either because he thinks he's morally obligated or because his bosses are willing to up his salary. He flails beautifully in the face of Kentarou's advances, and twitches whenever his partner has a dim moment and nearly divulges their secret identities.

    Kamui
Shirou Kamui is the leader of the Dragons of Heaven, the group destined to fight against the coming apocalypse in CLAMP's X/1999. He doesn't have much contact with Suoh outside of official business, but he and his cohorts spend time living at the Imonoyama mansion at Nokoru's request, often running into the CCD boys in the halls or asking them for information on their enemies. As acting chairman of CLAMP Academy, Nokoru is also the keeper of Kamui's shinken, the ceremonial sword meant to be used in the final battle against the Dragons of Earth. The CCD boys set it into a special lockdown in the center of CLAMP Campus to protect it from harm until it is needed.
